Strengthening the Economic Power of Women
Together Women Rise is a powerful community of women and allies dedicated to global gender equality. Our June monthly webinar is focused on strengthening the economic power of women in low-income countries in the Global South.
Worldwide, around 2.4 billion women of working age are not afforded equal economic opportunity. Women’s economic empowerment is essential to achieving women’s rights and gender equality.
Our guest speakers are Kate Cochran, CEO of Upaya Social Ventures, and Jackie Mutesi, Executive Program Director at Kula Project. Upaya Social Ventures creates dignified jobs for the poor in the most underserved segments of India, especially women who face disproportionate access to quality jobs and fair income. Together Women Rise is partnering with Upaya to address gender wage disparities among the extreme poor in rural areas of India. Findings will be used to help entrepreneurs design sustainable jobs for women and increase their access to equal and just pay.
Together Women Rise is partnering with Kula Project work to develop women entrepreneurs in Rwanda’s coffee communities. This will empower women to earn increased income, diversify their revenue streams, and improve the gender equity and decision-making capacity within their homes and communities, leading them out of extreme poverty and into brighter, more sustainable futures.
This webinar is free to open to everyone. Registration is required.
