-6:30PM – Panel Discussion
Staying Fearless: Supporting Equity in an Era of Backlash
The panel conversation will focus on how funders and nonprofits are responding to the backlash against racial equity, exemplified by the lawsuit targeting the Fearless Fund’s grants for Black women entrepreneurs. What changes, if any, should they make to their programs? What impact will changes by funders have on grantees, both current and prospective? And what other challenges lie ahead? Panelists include:
-Moderator: Fatima M. Smith, Founder, Collective 365
-Shannon Jeffries, Co-Creator, Tanna Fund
-Hanh Le, Co-CEO, iF A Foundation for Radical Possibility, and co-founder, Cherry Blossom Giving Circle
-Melody Webb, Founder & Executive Director, Mothers Outreach Network
This event is open to ALL giving circle members and anyone looking to join the movement. Spread the word and invite others to join you at CircleUp! Space is limited — RSVP soon!
CircleUp DMV is co-hosted by Catalogue for Philanthropy, Next Gen Giving Circle DC, Collective 365, Community Investment Network, Many Hands, Ìpàdé, and Philanthropy Together.
