Children and Youth: Hope and Opportunity in a Complex World
Shocks such as the global pandemic exacerbated deeply rooted inequalities that affect the wellbeing of children and youth, including urban and rural divides, access to education, and mental health support. Concentrated attention is needed to ensure that young people facing deprivation, discrimination and lack of opportunities can survive and thrive as regardless of where they were born, while advancing change in the conditions and systems that negatively impact their lives.
What does it entail to support children and youth in a meaningful way? How do the rights of young people to basic needs, education, self-expression, and other areas, fit into the larger picture of human rights? What is the state of philanthropy supporting children and youth across the age and abilities spectrum? What are some innovative approaches that acknowledge the power of young people themselves to create solutions and drive change in their communities? During this Giving Circle, we will explore these questions and more from different perspectives of those working with and for young people to create a more promising future for all.
This year’s Giving Circle on Children and Youth will be led by Corey Oser of the Global Fund for Children and Ken Goody of Dorothea Haus Ross Foundation.
